Tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) are perennial plants that are grown as annuals in most North American climates. Start seeds in a greenhouse or seedling cells six to eight weeks prior to last frost, transplating in late spring when soil has warmed. Protect seeds/seedlings from the cold. Transplant outdoors into a well fertilized soil and consider consider adding extra phosphorous to improve plant yields. Siskiyou Orange is an indeterminate (vining) tomato variety and requires trellising for proper fruit set. Plants are tall and yield fruit sporadically.
