Dark Star Zucchini

Dark Star Zucchini (Cucurbita pepo) is a classical plant breeding success story worth telling.

After repeated issues with sourcing seeds for his favorite commercial hybrid zucchini variety, Eel River farmer Bill Reynolds took matters into his own hands. With the help of master breeder Dr. John Navazio and the Organic Seed Alliance, a breeding project was underway! The goal was to produce a reliable, open-pollinated production-quality zucchini with all of the traits of the best hybrid varieties: early and prolonged production, high yields, drought-tolerance, high disease and pest resistance, open growth habit for easy harvest, and uniform, dark green fruits. After six years of intentional selection, "Dark Star" was born.

Dark Star has heavy fruit yields on easy to harvest open plant formations. One or two of these in your garden can provide daily zucchini for months.

60 days from seed. Annual.

Seeds are certified organic.
